Lip Monthly – September 2014 Review

Lip Monthly… what am I gonna do with you?lmbagLip Monthly
10$ Per Month
Ships Mid-Month via USPS

You’d think I’d be smart enough to cancel Lip Monthly by now but at 10$ a month I find it more difficult than it should be (yet I cancelled Beauty Box 5 in a heartbeat?). Ah well… Lip Monthly is a bag of “all lip products” plus one non-lip extra, or two, since Lip Monthly either can’t count or broke their own rules.

lmcardEach bag comes with a slightly bigger info card than normal. They also repeated the trend of putting their wares into a makeup bag that smells like mold and fear. I like the thought of having a makeup bag but the smell transitions to the items inside it, and it’s not pleasant.

Can we stop this trend of sending out leather colored lip pencils please?

OH BOY MORE PUR-LISSE

lmnailJessie’s Girl Julie G Nail Color – Romeo
This is a nice coral color, but it’s pretty much the color of Spring. It’s not bad at all but eh… when you subscribe to so many boxes it’s just not easy to get excited about constantly getting attacked by nail polish. This is the first polish that Lip Monthly has ever sent out though.

lmhempEco Lips Hemp Lip Balm
I’m not a fan. That’s literally the extent of my excitement for this item.

lmcheriMakeup by Cherimoya – Lip Crayon – Fig
This has been the sole redeemer of this trainwreck of a bag this month. This lip crayon is beautifully creamy while being a bit sheer, with a mild fuchsia color. If I had one complaint it’s the Disney-esque style wording and the less-than-sturdy packaging, but overall this has to be my favorite lip crayon ever, and I get a lot of lip crayons.

lmallI’ll give it one more month (lies) until I decide whether or not I should cancel. There was nothing about this bag I liked except that Lip Crayon, and I was overall neutral to the polish. Lip Monthly is one of those boxes that has to be consistently above the game for me to enjoy them and I can’t say that they have been in the last several months, if actually ever.

Well anyway, if interested, Lip Monthly is 10$ per month and you can sign up by clicking here.

Beeju paid for this subscription. All opinions are my own.

  1. I absolutely love your blog and find the majority of your post’s
to be what precisely I’m looking for. can you offer guest writers to write content available for you?
I wouldn’t mind writing a post or elaborating on a
few of the subjects you write in relation to
    here. Again, awesome website!

      • I feel the same way… It’s why I cancelled after one month. I feel bad though because they’re just a baby.

        • They’ve had several months to turn everything around and they have to an extent but not nearly at the pace they should be. They’ve still got the “silly teenager” tendencies. It may be time to let this one go :/

          • (I agree…, but feel bad saying that out loud). It was fun to try, but it’s not for me.

          • Yeah… I give them one last shot before I cancel completely. I keep hoping they’ll have one excellent month but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. Geez.

          • I know. They had what looked like a great month, but then I read that a lot of the products were discontinued items from a while ago. That was kind of jarring to learn; not what I want from a subscription. Did you read the same?

            Like

          • Yeah, the first several months they sent out discontinued products. They did state that they won’t be doing that anymore as of last month, when they introduced the makeup bag. I don’t think they have the connections they need to make their box a true contender with the bigger companies like ipsy yet. They seem to focus on smaller, cheaper brands. Last month their box had three items from the same brand, which isn’t bad unless you don’t care for that brand.

Basically they’ve got problems. Not nearly as big as the last few months, but problems nonetheless.
