Memebox – My Cute Wishlist 4 Review

Memebox’s last installation in their cult series of cute, the My Cute Wishlist 4 box, could easily be renamed “We had zero idea what to put in here so have some random items from other boxes.” At least it’s still moderately cute?

Memebox is a mystery box full of Korean cosmetics focused on different themes. Some of the themes are very much a miss and some are damn near perfect, but it all depends on what Meme has available as stock. The boxes often release months in advance (though lately they’ve been releasing boxes that ship the same day), and take a long time to get to you because they’re sourced and shipped directly from Korea.

My Cute Wishlist 3 was just weird with a creepy doll theme, this goes back to more cutesy, though nothing can compare to My Cute Wishlist 1. That’s unfortunately what happens when you set the bar too high from the get go.

I don’t think I’ll ever stop buying Memeboxes. They’re like a drug addiction for me. I love the appeal, the business model, the items; Memebox and I are buds.

Most of the boxes come with an info card that details the items, their use and price. Some of the items can be found in the Memeshop though you’ll want to take serious advantage of the free shipping deals when they’re available. Since the items are sourced from Korea they may not always be in English.

Etude House Sweet Recipe Candy Stick
This was a repeat item from MCW 1 and I still feel the same way about it. It offers zero color payoff but it is hydrating. It’s an adequate little stick balm.

Pure Smile Snail Hand Cream Milk
This is a repeat item though I’m not 100% sure which box (I want to say Marzia), and the packaging is really cute. Memebox has been on this “EVERYTHING IS SNAILS AND BEES” kick lately which I am just so not into. I will say that snail products are very intensely hydrating based on the self-imposed limited exposure I have to the items. TonyMoly Egg Pore Nose Pack
TonyMoly and eggs are pretty much synonymous with each other – in the last few months we’ve gotten about 50% of the TM Egg line in these boxes. I like nose strips in general but I don’t like their odor, though that’s universal among all strips. Regardless these will get used. EGGS.

Pure Smile Choosy Lip Pack
These have been in multiple boxes over the Memeyear, but they’re incredibly popular masks all the same. I personally don’t use these so they’ll be gifted.

ddung Liquid Eyeliner
This particular line of ddung products have also been showing up in tons of boxes lately, and this is an okay liner all things considered. It’s very wet. I actually really like the packaging; pink and lace are always welcome.

Yadah Vita-Whitening Aqua Gel & Puregreen Moisturizing Cream
Pretty much every single Memebox contains of moisturizer of some kind and these smell and fell like every other moisturizer in existence. I like them as moisturizers (ones a whitener but both are moisturizers), but not nearly enough to use them constantly. They’re tinnnnny. The card says they’re perfect for travel which I have to agree; there are random times when you feel like you need something extra. As for cute factor, I’m not crazy about the aqua gel but I like the weird bunny monster thing.

Holika Holika Pig-nose Clear Black Head Steam Starter
I really like the packaging here, it’s quite adorable. This item or an item from this line was also in a recent box. I haven’t tried this yet as it’s technically a cleanser and I have about 7 other cleansers to rotate through.

TonyMoly Red Appletox Honey Cream
Ah yes, the apple. The apple which has plagued many a Memebox for months now. Memebox had this apple in such supply that they threw it in their shop for a very reasonable 5$. I love this apple. It’s cute, it’s highly effective, it smells just like an actual apple. It’s a moisturizer and brightener, and I love it because it’s highly absorbent, and its been one of the best moisturizers I’ve ever used. I ended up buying 4 more of these, and it’s really cute too!

So as far as cute factor goes I like this iteration of MCW much better than MCW 3, my only dislike is the fact that most of these items are repeats. They’re good repeats, but repeats. I don’t necessarily mind that overall though, especially if I like the items.

Memeboxes run the gamut from 15-32$ plus shipping. Each box is released with a different theme. The boxes are ultimately mystery boxes with specific exceptions, and it’s worth the risk.
