The Fortune Cookie Soap Box is a quarterly box filled with cult items, new items, always with brand new scents and edgy wordplay. The Winter box has scents inspired by the movie “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” which I shall do classic cinema a disservice and say I have never seen it.
Fortune Cookie Soap Box
19.99$ Per Quarter
Fortune Cookie Soap got its name from it’s hand soaps – which are literally in the shape of a fortune cookie with an actual fortune. The scents in each quarterly box are new, and the items are a mix of old favorites and new items FCS is testing. There’s a couple of things that make FCS unique; their themes, the items themselves, and the fact that FCS allows you to create your own scents a few times a year. This box is intended as a sampler of an upcoming collection.
Each box comes with an info card detailing the items, the quirks, and all possible combinations. Some items are randomly chosen, though the only difference is color or scent. The back of the card has a 10$ off coupon for their new collection when it releases later in the month. This coupon doesn’t count for shipping though, which can start at about 7$ a shipment.
“Moose Mug” Cuticle Butter
Some people lacked a label on their butter, myself included. This is a very oily cuticle butter, but it smells so good, like concentrated egg nog and/or pure concentrated Christmas. The scent lingers forever, and the butter makes your nails super shiny. This little jar is very full too and a little goes a LONG way.
“Mele Kelekimaka” Hand Sanitizer
This has an obscure reference I don’t quite get, but it smells like vanilla palm trees. Since it’s a hand sanitizer it also smells strongly of alcohol, but that’s normal. Despite being blue it goes on and absorbs very sheer. It’s drying too, but that too, is normal for hand sanitizer.
“Christmas Bonus” Deep Conditioner
It’s an annual mystery fragrance and it’s very strongly scented of pine trees, literally, it smells like you’re inhaling a Christmas tree, but the conditioner itself is absolutely amazing. My hair has never been so soft. This goes on like a balm (think lip balm).
“I Pledge Allegiance, Amen!” Shower Steamer
In the FCS group I’m in they rave about these little bars, though I can’t say I’m much of a fan. This one, too, smells like you’re inhaling a Christmas Tree. These are meant to be a form of shower perfume, and it does steam up very well, but the scent is what gets me.
“Sparky” Hydrate Me
VANILLA PUMPKIN WAFFLES. It melted a little in transit but this is a hydrating concentrated body wash in the shape of a Christmas bulb. It smells just like vanilla and maple syrup and I just may have a mighty need for about 30 more of them.
“Fried Pussycat” Whipped Soap
Yet another obscure reference, but it actually smells like spiced plums. There was a little controversy when it comes to this item, most arrived only half full, mine included. As a soap I love this, and if it comes in a pump form I am so buying it.
“Jelly of the Month Club” Whipped Cream
One of the stars and highly coveted items of the Fortune Cookie Soap Box is their whipped cream, a highly scented, very hydrating lotion. This smells like strawberry pie with a spiced scent (maybe nutmeg?) and is one of the most hydrating lotions I’ve ever used. The only issue I have with it is the scent is so strong that it may be a skin irritant so this isn’t really usable for long periods of time. This is the item that had 4 possible combinations, and I’ve love to try “SQUIRREL!”
“Tis the Season to be Mary” Fortune Cookie Soap
My fortune is the best fortune in the history of fortunes. The nakesake of the soap box is the soap bar itself which is shaped exactly like a fortune cookie and is completely flexible. This smells like a pine tree lit on fire. Definitely not my favorite scent in the box, but the fortune totally makes up for it.
I definitely liked this box considerably more than the Fall box, and my favorite thing about this sub is not only the edginess of the item names themselves, but the scents included. You won’t find these scents anywhere else. Fortune Cookie Soap has several different collections based on cult favorite items, such as Nightmare Before Christmas and Harry Potter (polyjuice potion is a personal favorite of mine), and I highly recommend them if you’re into bath and body stuff and looking for something different.
