You’ve probably heard of the new makeup line by One Direction distributed by Markwins International by now, but if not YOU’RE GONNA. It’s a new set that just released in stores last month.
“Makeup by ONE DIRECTION:

Celebrating life with bold shades, unique formulae and infused with limited edition collectable packaging, Makeup from One Direction is fun, bold, often irreverent, with a touch of cheeky mischievousness. There are three tins in all, and each has a different makeup color combination inside. The outer sleeve removes to reveal a neat looking little tin:
“The Looks Collection” comprises three keepsake tins inspired by One Direction’s globe-conquering albums, “Up All Night,” “Take Me Home” and the latest chart topper, “Midnight Memories.” Each tin comes complete with everything you need to show off your personality. Are you a rock n’ roll girl, a fun party girl or the girl next door? We have just the right collection for you and illustrations to help show you just how to get your perfect look. All your beauty essentials are housed in a LIMITED EDITION collectable keepsake tin with removable sleeve, complete with ONE DIRECTION doodle stencils to decorate your keepsake tin and make it uniquely your own!”

“Better Than Words” Eye and Body Crayon
Body crayon? Welp, all the One Direction items have the same brick pattern on them as the tin. This is a standard black eyeliner, although it’s a bit larger than a normal sized eyeliner. It’s also a bit on the smudgey side.
“Right Now” – Nail Varnish
This is a silver metallic glittery polish, it’s veeeery pretty in the bottle. The outer cap is a little flimsy. It needs two coats for full opacity and the formula can be a tiny bit streaky.
“Best Song Ever” Creme Lipstick
This is a deep red with purple undertones. It’s very creamy, though it can be quite patchy so using a chapstick as a base is recommended. The packaging is pretty sturdy too. It lasts about the same length of time as an average lipstick. Probably one of the highest quality items in the tin.
“Through the Dark” – Liquilights Glow Gloss
This is an electric pink with glitter. It also glows neon orange under a black light according to the box. It’s veeeery bright and sticky but isn’t drying. It’s also full of large glittery specs, so office wear is probably out.
4+1 Eyeshadow Palette
Okay tiny note about the silver in the middle. When I got this set, the silver glitter creme had removed from the palette itself and was hanging out in the lid. When I tried to return it I managed to smash it not knowing it was a creme. Whoops.
Anyway, the colors are as follows:
Little White Lies – Top gray matte
Don’t Forget Where You Belong – Top right pink shimmer
Strong – Bottom left charcoal shimmer
Half a Heart – Bottom right gray shimmer
Midnight Memories – Center silver creme
The pink shimmer (Don’t Forget Where You Belong) is the star of this palette. It’s beautifully pigmented, shimmery, with a peachy undertone. The creme shade was patchy at best. Little White Lies had no pigmentation whatsoever. Half a Heart left a lot to be desired as it lacked pigmentation and was flaky. Strong was just that, Strong. It had very little shimmer. I will use the pink, it’s too lovely not to. Little White Lies would make a good highlight shade if you can make it work.
The brush is like every other brush that comes with a palette in existence.
I actually liked this set for the most part. There are things I won’t particularly use, but there are also things I love, and the colors are at least partly cohesive. If you have any sort of One Direction fan in your family, this would be an excellent set (the holidays are coming up too!) and you can get it in Macy’s, Dillard’s, Lord and Taylor, Beauty Brands and Stage Stores now. International release is pending.
